I don't think Valkryie sold well unfortunately.
Edge of Dawn.Diofield Chronicle's main thing is that nearly all of the main characters are jackasses. To the point that the one main character with something of a working moral compass eventually leaves the others in disgust.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThat sounds like it could be either really obnoxious or interesting depending on the execution.
On one hand I've never heard Diofield Chronicle get called interesting on the other I've rarely heard anyone mention Diofield at all.
Bleye knows Sabers.Square had a crazy release schedule last year. Valkyrie, SO 6, Harvestella and I don't know what else all released within a couple of months. They basically had at least 1 game, maybe even 2, release every month. How many long, mid-budget RP Gs would anyone even have time for? It was a very poorly thought-out release schedule that oversaturated the selection. And that's not even considering all the other companies pumping out their own similar titles.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerLive a Live also came out last year.
Edge of Dawn.I think it is a bit early to be doomsaying, especially regarding Octopath Traveler. The second one passed 1M copies sold, which is quite good for such an old-fashioned game I assume. And it was very well-received (I typically dont see many OT games in secondhand baskets when I go to VG stores).
Ditto with Triangle Strategy.

I think people are mostly hoping that Square doesn't do some knee jerk reaction seeing the sales of FFXVI, thinking they are awful and then do something they would later regret.
-Witty line-Ever Crisis' release date is September 7th. As I've said before, I mostly just like that the "lost" flip phone game is now un-lost.

You're going to ask, Its from hereI’m morbidly curious to see how Square handles kid Sephiroth.
Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!I’m interested because Crisis Core Sephiroth was relatively well adjusted and reasonably friendly to Zack.
Yeah he had his issues like that sense of isolation from others but he was capable of being social.
IIRC I think one of the novellas mention he had childhood friends that he deliberately forgot about to focus on his hatred of Cloud to endure in the lifestream.
Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!Well i guess you get to met his friends with the first soldier scenario XD
You're going to ask, Its from hereI’m going to laugh my ass off if they somehow make the PC of First Soldier connected to Sephiroth.

Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!Theory: instead of having sex with someone to birth Sephiroth, Hojo will do some DNA trickery with the First Soldier protag and have them have sex with Jenova.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So does anyone else think Kefka only adopted his Straw Nihilist attitude when the heroes confront him?
If he always thought life was meaningless and destruction is the point of life, then why is there some civilization? I get the sense he wanted to enjoy having power over people as an evil god and rule, then found it boring and unsatisfying.
Which is why he reacts very badly to the heroes and their self help speech.
Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!I think Kefka just left people alive he doesn't really care. He doesn't see any point in going out of his way to kill everyone. In fact, the sense I get out his anger at the party's self help speech at the end is that Kefka is looking for validation for his beliefs. He left people alive because he wants people to feel the same despair and helplessness he does.
He excitedly asks the party what they learned in the bombed out wasteland he made, hoping they'll agree with him that life sucks and is nothing but pointless struggle until you and everything you cared about is dead. When the party explains they still have hope and things they're willing to fight for regardless, he gets angry because it makes him wrong. Even after everything, they have something Kefka can never feel even after he's obtained god-like power.
Yeah that’s what I was getting at when I said Kefka reacted badly to the self help speech. Dude has god like power and can’t get any real satisfaction out of it while the heroes are there just showing they are still fighting despite all the pain and misery, and managing to eke out meaning in their lives despite the world being a wasteland.
Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!Even with the power of three gods at his fingertips, he couldn't fix whatever it was that broke inside him the day he became the first Magitek Knight.
But then again, considering said gods were also flawed beings who nearly destroyed the world just because they couldn't set aside their differences, it's no wonder their power couldn't fix anything.

Disgusted, but not surprisedTwo days to Ever Crisis and I just learned it includes Advent Children. Is that just, like, the movie to watch, or did they actually convert it to a game?

Do not look away. You witness a king's revival. And the birth of his new world!Interesting! Thanks!

Me too. Wait, I guess Hilde's Vengeance is out now? I'll jump right back into that game when I get the chance.
Yeah Squeenix really seemed to bury their games, sometimes with their own games.
I mean I'm looking forward to it at least.
As for Diofield Chronicle I remember I played the demo and they portrayed a unionized workforce as a gang of child-killing necromancers and couldn't stop laughing. Considering how many stories there are of managers overworking their game devs lately it felt like a grotesque parody.
