Mummy Tropes

An index of tropes about mummies, which are preserved corpses often wrapped in gauze bandages. They usually end up rising from their tombs as zombie-like beings. Mummies are usually pharaohs or other important people who lived and died millennia ago in Ancient Egypt, perhaps calling upon the powers of Anubis to help them cheat death.

• Bandage Mummy
  A character who is badly injured shown completely encased in plaster casts and/or bandages.
• Chummy Mummy
  A mummy who's friendly.
• Curse of the Pharaoh
  Ancient Egyptian ruins are cursed, promising doom on anyone who dares to defile the mummy's tomb.
• Glowing Eyelights of Undeath
  Mummies with glowing eyes.
• Mummies at the Dinner Table
  Using someone's body like a doll to pretend they're still alive.
• Mummy Wrap
  Mummies restraining their victims by wrapping them up in bandages.
• Nepharious Pharaoh
  Evil pharaohs, which mummies often have a high chance of being before their death and mummification.
• Our Liches Are Different
  The various portrayals of undead sorcerers, which modern mummies often are, in fiction.
• The Punishment
  Punishing someone by turning them into a supernatural creature of darkness.
• Pyramid Power
  Egyptian pyramids possessing unique powers or secrets, or housing something that does.
• Seductive Mummy
  A female mummy depicted as a Love Interest and/or Ms. Fanservice.
• Undead Barefooter
  Mummies with no footwear.
• Undeathly Pallor
  Mummies with pale skin.
• Walk Like an Egyptian
  Mummies may walk like this in addition to, or instead of, their usual slow gait.
