Voiced by Fabrizio Santini (La Nahuala), Yair Prado (La Llorola), Benny Mendoza (De las Momias and Del Chupacabras)

The main character of the entire franchise. A kind, humble yet fearful and timid young boy growing up in New Spain, Leo is the main hero of the series of films. Growing from the aforementioned meek, easily frightened kid into a brave, though far from fearless and adventurous hero.

I'll alphabetize the tropes...sooner or later. Right now I'm just adding all the tropes I can think of.

• Adorkable: A good natured, sweet kid who gets scared out of his mind over the simplest of things who is forced to brave a haunted house in order to save his brother.
• All-Loving Hero: Leo is exceeding kind and caring to others. He pretty much befriends anyone he meets, if they're not immediately turned off by his awkward and scared demeanor. He even showed deep concern over Miss Teodora's safety after she was being controlled by La Nahuala. Furthermore, the basic plot of La Leyenda de la Nahuala is Leo saving his abusive older brothers life, despite the constant abuse and harassment he puts him through. This trend keeps up in the sequels. Quickly bonding with the loudmouthed and arrogant Kika and went out of his way to save her, her brother and several children.
• All There in the Manual: Some minor information about Leo is only available in the official synopsis of the movie, such as him being 9 years old.
• Amazon Chaser: Possibly. Leo had an obvious crush on the more tough and adventurous Xóchitl over the more girlish and conventionally actractive (by 9 year old standards, at least) Miss Teodora. Though this could be just the difference in personalities, as Xóchitl is kinder and heroic, while Teodora is a Royal Brat, snobby and stuck up little kid. She does have a good heart, though.
• Badass Adorable: More adorable in the first film, but more badass in the second. While Leo isn't at all a fighter, he's defiantly a heroic and selfless kid whose saved countless people from certain death with clever thinking and his endless determination. His exploits have even made him quite famous among New Spain, with a distant priest asking him for help during La Leyenda de la Llorona. Loses his more adorable charm in the later films as he grows and matures, but remains badass in his own way.
• Badass Bookworm: While Legend Quest would play up the more nerdy and bookwormy aspect of Leo's character, Leo was still bookish in his earlier outings. Notably, Leo had an enthusiasm over science and technology, so much so that just the sight of a flyig machine made his day. Leo is badass in his own way too, while he's not really a fighter, he's willing to brave dangerous missions and confront monsters more than capable of killing him in an instant, just to safe people he doesn't even know. By La Leyenda del Chupacabra, Leo becomes more badass in the sense that he's willing to fight his way out of his problems if it comes down to it.
• Big Brother Instinct: Although Leo doesn't have any younger siblings, he treated Kika like a little sister, always looking out for her safety. His interactions with her were all genuine and warm, and especially when he promised to catch her if she jumped off the wheelbarrow. When she was kidnapped by La Llorona, Leo sacrificed himself for her by throwing himself in front of he while La Llorona attempted to suck out her life. The two shared a tender hug after the whole event was said in done, showing the feelings were mutual. He also shared a big brother type relationship with Finado and Moribunda, though they didn't interact as much since they were usually involved in the "B Plots" of the movies. Still, he is quite nurturing to them and has risked his life to save them whenever they're endangered.
• Crowning Moment Of Awesome: Leo has a lot of downright awesome moments throughout the series. Possibly the crowning is when he gets back on his two feet after getting utterly trashed and even getting his life forced sucked away by La Llorona, in order to inform her of where her actual children are, thus saving the kidnapped children at the cost of his own life. He gets revived by Yoltzin only a moment later, but still.
• Character Development: The first film is essentially an abridged coming of age story. Leo must brave the horrors of a haunted house (ironically, the vast majority of ghost and monsters he meets are actually quite friendly and Leo befriends just about all of them in order to save his older brother, and later his two new friends, Xóchitl and Miss Teodora, and later the entire world from La Nahuala. All the way he develops a love for adventure, the thing he was so utterly scared of at the beginning of the movie. By the end of the film Leo even enthusiastically answers the call of adventure without a second question. Once the adventure actually comes, Leo begins to show traits from his older self, such as his easily frightened nature but is still more than willing to risk his life for others.
• Made of Iron: Whoo boy. Leo's feats of sheer endurance are pretty insane. Even as a physically weak 9 year old, Leo was capable of getting slammed against walls by La Nahuala at high speeds with minor injuries. Taken up even further in La Leyenda de la Llorona, where he stood up after getting his life forced sucked away from his body...twice...and getting smashed through the ground, just moments after falling down stone stairs, albeit just barely.

• Like Brother and Sister: His relationship with Miss Teodora falls into this. The two almost never get along, but it's clear they both really do care about each other. Whenever Leo is safe, Teodora will constantly insult him...just about anything really, but the moment he's in actual danger, she doesn't hesitate to help him.

• Break the Cutie: To a extent. Leo never loses sight of who he is, but he becomes noticeably less happy and more violent as the series goes on. Theirs shades of this as early as La Llorona, but he's more serious and mature than unhappy. It becomes much more visible by the fourth film, which is Darker and Edgier in it's themes, involving warfare and a much more human enemy. During his involvement in the war, Leo's temper is considerably shorter and starts to lash out more. [[spoiler:An almost darkly funny example would be near the end of the fourth film, where he just accepts the fact that he's about to get shot by a firing squad.

• Vitriolic Best Buds: With Teodora. Yeah, the two are always at each others throats and the two will argue like cats and dogs, but they still love each other as friends. Leo is willing to risk his life for her and Teodora is willing to do so for Leo...albeit with some bribing first. To her credit, she actually starts to think Leo can't die on his adventures. When Leo straight up says he's about to be killed in the war, she thinks it's a joke. When it appears that Leo is actually gonna be murdered, she shows real concern. Leo even agreed to have his hair done like Justin Bieber to make her happy.

• Intergenerational Friendship: Leo and...pretty much all of his friends. Don Andres and Godofredo were elderly men, Alebrije appears to be in his 20s given his more adult way of speaking, Kika is a few years younger than him, Dionisia is a young woman, Mandujano was middle aged and Lorenzo was the ghost of an already middle aged man who was killed 52 years ago. Technically, Teodora and Xóchitl would be in their 60s if they were allowed to age like normal people. A plot point in the first film was that all of Leo's friends were adults, presumably because they appreciated the kinder and polite aspect over his personality rather than shallowly toss him aside for being sensitive.

• Go-Karting with Bowser: Leo had an All Souls Day party with Loenzo...who tried to eat Leo during the manor incident. Somewhat downplayed because Lorenzo is actually a pretty friendly and nice guy who befriended Leo's Nana over their love of food.

• Beware the Nice Ones: Leo is kind and friendly, almost to a fault. But mess with his brother or friends and he'll go to extreme lengths to payback the due. For example, when Doctor Merolick left his friends for dead, attempted to murder his Nando and tortured the Chupacabras for profit, Leo stopped at almost nothing to bring the man to justice. Pretty much only stopping when an entire standing army impeded his quest. He also socked Nando for killing his beloved rabbit, Cuco, by accident.

• Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Feminine Boy to Xóchitl's Masculine Girl, to an extent. Out of the two, Xóchitl is the more capable one, with supernatural ghost powers and a more brave, headstrong personality, while Leo is more timid, meek and shy. Leo also had this dynamic with Kika, to a lesser extent. As in, Kika was a very masculine girl who loved to explore, fight and eat, but Leo had grew past much of his more "feminine" traits. As the movies went on, Leo would shed his more "feminine" side, especially during the war. Later in the series, it can be argued that Leo evolved into the Manly Man to Alebrije's Sensitive Guy

• Nice Guy: A good natured and heroic kid whose pretty much always respectful and friendly to his elders and nearly everyone. He only really lost his temper when pushed, usually by Teodora...being Teodora. As he grew, his personality swayed considerably with less patience and more snark, but still remained an altruistic and caring person.

• Deadpan Snarker: Shades of it near the end of his first adventure, especially upon first meeting Teodora. He would become quite the snarky kid during the fourth film, albeit in a rather dark manner.

• Heart Is an Awesome Power: His most useful skill that's saved his and his friends life many times is...his Balero skills. This...interesting skill has actually saved himself, Moribunda and even the entire world before.

A Royal Brat ad sole daughter of the rich Villavicencio family. She was the only one member of her family not to be reduced to a skeleton by the evil Nahuala, but instead was to be sacrificed to grant the witch unlimited power. A abrasive and dimwitted little girl who, for some reason, always tags along with Leo despite insulting him each leg of the way.

• Adaptational Heroism: She's a lot more heroic in Legend Quest, willing to take matters in her own hands and fight her way out of dangerous situations.
• Adaptational Intelligence: She is a lot smarter in Legend Quest. In Legend Quest, she's arguably the second smartest member of Team Legend, next to Leo and she has come up with some pretty clever plans, albeit most of which fail due to unforeseen consequences but still. In La Leyenda? She forgets Leo can actually die and is utterly bewildered when other people have problems that don't relate to material possessions.
• Angst? What Angst?: Despite all she's been through, with the whole 'having her entire family killed by an evil witch' thing, she usually only shows angst over superficial stuff. To her credit, their appears to be Hidden Depths in her angst that hint at her character being deeper then it initially appears.
• Hidden Depths: It's implied that she really wants to be a competent explorer and truly wants Leo to respect her as an equal, but she keeps messing it up with her selfish personality.
• Like Brother and Sister: She spends a lot of time with Leo, usually making fun of him in some fashion, from his clothing to his smell. That said, she can teleport wherever she want, whenever she want and apparently has a luxurious life somewhere else, so it's rather sweet in a way that she accompanies Leo on his down and dirty missions anyway. It is made clear that she does love Leo as a friend and shows genuine worry over his well being whenever he's in actual danger, such as when he was smashed through several cubic meters of rock by La Llorona or death-by-firing squad. Leo seems to love her in a brotherly manner as well, showing no romantic interest in her, but feels genuine guilt when he upsets her and tried his best to save her when they first met.
• Abhorrent Admirer: Teodora tries to flirt on guys she comes across, most notably an Aztec kid in La Leyenda de la Llorona, all of which turn her down.
• The Face: Despite never being the focus, and usually subjected to "B-Plots" within the films, Teodora is all over the marketing of the franchise and weirdly appears before Leo in promotional material, making it seem like she's the main character.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Well, they do like her, but they're constantly annoyed by her antics.
• The Scrappy: Pretty much everyone whose seen the films will tell you how much they dislike Teodora. To many, she plays the Valley Girl trope far to straight and the only depth to her personality comes through subtle hints that are rarely expanded upon.
• Ascended Extra: She only had two real scenes focusing on her in La Leyenda de la Nahuala, but became a major character in La Leyeda de la Llorona. Much of La Leyenda del Chupacabras is focused on a side story with her and she eventually enters the main plot and remains a big player. So far, it appears she's going to be a main character in La Leyenda del Charro Negro.
• Ship Tease: Theirs some subtle teasing between her and Leo's older brother, Nando. Granted, Nando only hit on her when he was delirious but Teodora appeared to share the attraction.
