Tropes in My Own Writing
Originals:
- ''The Dystoria Chronicles'
- Rachel Page-Reading - The protagonist.
- Cromwell Freeman
- Felix Chesterton
- Bianca Hackett
- Victoria Rodgers
- Evelyn Hoarfrost
Adaptations:
- The Wizard of Oz
- Alternate Character Interpretation / Took a Level in Jerkass - Being heartless, the Tin Man acts like quite a jerk at times until he really shows how much of heart he really has.
- Alternate Character Interpretation - Dorothy initially doesn't want to go home. Her character development is her learning that Kansas is the place she ought to be. Her journey to the Wizard is to register as the new sorceress after the demise of the Wicked Witch of the East, believing that Oz is the world over the rainbow her parents told her about.
- Adaptation Expansion - Dorothy is given much more character in my adaptation, rather than just being an Audience Surrogate.
- Alice in Wonderland
- Adaptation Expansion - Alice's home life is given more examination to contextualize her journey through Wonderland.
- Composite Character - The Queen of Hearts has some Red Queen qualities. The Duchess has both Red Queen and White Queen qualities. The Knave of Hearts is merged with the White Knight.
- Death by Adaptation - The Mock Turtle is going to be made into soup. Alice listens to his life story because it was his last request.
- Fridge Horror - In-universe, Alice reminds herself that Wonderland flowers are sentient. The flowers being painted by the Queen's gardeners are going to die.
- Cinderella
- Adaptation Expansion - Cinderella's shoes were actually presents from her father that she hid from the Stepmother. That's why they don't disappear at midnight. Cinderella's father was a merchant who disappeared on a trade expedition.
- Alternate Character Interpretation - Cinderella wants to go to the ball to show up her stepfamily, who tell her that she's coarse and common. She doesn't know the man she met at the ball is the Prince. The Stepmother wants her daughters to marry the Prince to save themselves from bankruptcy after she wasted her husband's money. Cinderella's father has gone missing, but he returns and disowns the Stepmother. The Fairy Godmother is a beggar woman who would much rather use her powers to help others than help herself.
- Getting Crap Past the Radar - The Stepmother is implied to be having an affair with the Duke, who is helping the Stepsisters get an audience with the Prince.
- Laser-Guided Karma - The Stepmother is punished when Cinderella's father returns and properly divorces her and the Stepsisters shun her after making amends with Cinderella.
- {{Superhero Movies Don't Use Codenames}} - Cinderella is generally referred to as Ella until she embraces her nickname towards the end.
