Hello, I'm Blue Violet. I'm 18 years old, live somewhere in America, and have just officially joined the site after about a year of creepy lurking. (Mostly because I noticed the lack of a page for War of the Buttons. I am on it. Just as soon as I rewatch it, that is; it's been a few years.) I love books, webcomics, Neil Gaiman, mythology, the internet, Roald Dahl, well characterized villains, and food that has way too much sugar.
Tropes That Describe Me
- Berserk Button: Eragon. I mean the character himself; besides him, I found the books tolerable enough. I try to avoid talking about him, since I can't reign in my hatred. The only reason I'm still reading (with clenched teeth and a lot of wallbanging) is to find out what happens to Murtagh and Elva.
- Book Worm:I have been known to take a book along with me to the library, just so I have something to read during the five minute car ride.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Yes. Though since I almost never talk to people outside of my house, it doesn't show much.
- Deadpan Snarker: Only in my head and with my family, who don't care since they're all this to varying degrees too. (When I actually do have conversations with actual people, I don't want to risk offending them...)
- Does Not Like Shoes
- Friendless Background: I was bullied all through elementary school. Then I made some friends in middle school and high school. Then we moved. Thanks, Mom.(On the bright side, the bullying pretty much stopped years ago, and I have a few casual friends. But I'm hoping to make more and force myself out of my shell a bit when I go off to college.)
- Genius Ditz: I'm nowhere close to a genius, but I am pretty booksmart. Unfortunately, this is often coupled with a disturbing lack of common sense.
- Hates Being Touched: My mom finds it hilarious to watch me hug my three year old cousins, since I can't even hug them without being all awkward about it.
- Nightmare Fetishist: I love to be scared, and will actively seek out horror films and novels and things I know will frighten me. My ex boyfriend once told me he was sometimes disturbed by some of the things my brothers and I would joke about. And my favorite characters are always psychotic villains. I don't really know what this says about me.
- Not a Morning Person: I stay up until 3 a.m. if I'm given half an excuse. It's to be expected.
- Proud to Be a Geek
- Rooting for the Empire: Sort of. I'm pretty sure the only work where I literally want the villains to win is The Inheritance Cycle. However, my favorite character (or my current fictional crush) in any given work of fiction is almost always either a villain or a complete psychopath.
- Shrinking Violet: Thanks to all the early bullying, though I'm slowly forcing myself out of it. Much more of one in real life than online, where I don't have to see people. And, you know. Speak up so they can hear me.
- The Quiet One: I almost never talk in public. And when I do, I usually have to repeat myself about 4 times before the person I'm talking too hears me and understands what I'm saying. One of those annoying habits I'm trying to break...
These Things Are Awesome And You Should Check Them Out
I don't really feel like organizing these. I'll get around to it eventually.
- Neil Gaiman: I kind of worship this guy.
- Roald Dahl: This guy too. His books pretty much saved my childhood.
- Baccano!: so much Crazy Awesome in one show. Also, it has Claire Stanfield.
- Full Metal Alchemist: My first anime. Ah, nostalgia.
- Axis Powers Hetalia
- Sfeer Theory: I got a Livejournal account purely so I could get more information on this and the creators other projects. I think it will probably replace Girl Genius as my favorite webcomic once it really gets going.
- What Dreams May Come: Mostly for all the eye candy.
- Spirited Away: Favorite movie.
- Hayao Miyazaki: Aaaaannnnddd everything else he's ever made, too.
- A Song Of Ice And Fire
- Enders Game
- A Wrinkle In Time
- The Princess Bride
- Inception
- Terry Pratchett: Discworld lives up to the hype. :)
- Eureka 7
- Coldplay
- Radiohead: Yes I am a fan of both Coldplay and Radiohead at the same time. Apparently, this should be impossible. (eyeroll)
- Yoko Kanno
- Winters In Lavelle
- Hanna Is Not A Boys Name: Though it looks as though it's been abandoned.
- Girl Genius
- The Name Of The Wind
