Oh hey there, I didn't see you come in, or some other cliched intro. My name isn't Blank Mage, but for the purpose of this discussion, it will be. It sounds cooler anyway. Every nerd has his own specialty, and mine is primarily anime. I like cute characters, and I like tragic characters, so most of my favorite shows are ones that cross the two unexpectedly. I'm also fairly well versed in more traditional nerdery, classics like Star Trek, Dr. Who, and anything by Joss Whedon. I'm pretty well rounded, I like to think.
I charge myself with the addition to and occasional maintenance of several pages, and pretty much wrote the entire Nanoha Original Cast descriptions from scratch, such is my love for Fate Testarossa. My favorite shows, and the reasons for being my favorite, are listed below. Chances are, I've edited their pages more than a few times.
My favorite shows:
- Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: Take high speed aerial dogfighting. Now make them little girls. Now include Dragon Ball Z style fighting. Make it very serious and occasionally dark. Throw in magitek and intergalactic dreadnoughts. Yeah, now we're getting somewhere.
- Elfen Lied: No where else can you find girls so uniquely broken as Lucy and Nana.
- Saikano: Except here.
- Spice And Wolf: I watch it for the economics. And because watching Holo break down and cry is heartwarming.
- Utawarerumono: Animal eared protaginists have never been portrayed this realistically. The turn based strategy isn't bad, either.
- Fate Stay Night: I would take a bullet for Saber, but fortunately, we have Shirou for that.
- Tsukihime: Arc isn't as lucky. Hell, no one is lucky in Tsukihime. Len for the win!
- Kara No Kyoukai: Finishing the Type Moon trifecta, we have a story about a schizophrenic killer in love.
- Mahou Sensei Negima: For having everything I ever wanted in a series. Putting it in a sentence, Chachamaru is a cat-eared battle android powered by magic and in love with a 10 year old magician who is also her teacher but worries that she doesn't have a soul and I've gone cross eyed.
- Sekien No Inganock: Sure, there are plenty of cat girls out there, but seldom do you get segments narrated by them in noir style.
- Katawa Shoujo: For being more than a game about disabled girls.
- Durarara: Originality is hard to come by these days. That being said, I never thought I would fall in love with a headless monster on a motorcycle.
- To Aru Majutsu No Index: Every time I think Touma is at his most badass, he gets more badass.
- Eien No Aselia: Aw, Uruka is as devoted as she is awkward.
