welp, about time i patch up this page, i guess.
hello there. you can call me anza or squid. i got into fiction since I was little, spending at least 1/6 of my childhood watching cartoons. i don't know how i got into TV Tropes; maybe from a stray xkcd comic i visited (but really, who even remembers how they got in here?).
the "sb" in my handle name stands for the very first work of fiction i watched and enjoyed. unfortunately the wiki markup doesn't distinguish underscores (therefore linking Tropers.{{anza_sb}} to the nonexistent Tropers.AnzaSb), but since I can't be bothered with making a new account, i usually just pothole the link myself (using the page link: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/Anza_sb). if you came from that link, hi!
i have deviantART, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. feel free to look around and maybe like and follow. i'm also on Discord; do PM me if you want my ID.

special thanks to Hirohiko Araki and Jojos Bizarre Adventure for enriching my music tastes.
- cephalopods (obviously!). and ocean life in general. and animals in general. but mostly cephalopods. and also cats.
- noodles and pasta in general.
- cheese, although I only knew a few kinds (i somewhat like artificial cheese flavors, but obviously the real deal is better).
- vegetables, all kinds of them. note
- clocks (preferably non-digital ones), gears and gear mechanisms, and other tropes associated with it. i always like how gears in a clock turn since i was a kid, and one of my favorite fictional characters is a walking, talking timepiece. i also kinda like how the word sounds :P
- Elemental Powers, most notably ice powers. i really like snow (although i haven't experienced winter myself), i personally think that the Ice type in Pokémon needs more love (and resistances), and Ice King is one of my favorite characters because of his powers (among other reasons).
- Meganekko and tropes associated with it, which I firmly love and support; it helps that i wear glasses myself. Conversely, I dislike tropes like The Glasses Gotta Go because it's stupid to think that glasses equals being ugly.
- stars and constellations.
- SCIENCE! and math. maybe.
lol
here are some other stuff i made that i prolly will never use again:
Tropes applying to them in general:
- A Dog Named "Dog"/A Lizard Named "Liz": Most of the characters derive their name from the animal's actual name, or their scientific name:
- Humboldt Squid is named after, well, the Humboldt squid. Additionally, his online username is "Dosidicus", from the scientific name Dosidicus gigas.
- Topsy's name, besides describing her drunken behavior, is derived from Tursiops aduncus, aka. the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin.
- Thaum, Sepia and Ent's names are from their species' scientific names (Thaumoctopus mimicus, Sepia officinalis, and Enteroctopus dofleini, respectively).
- Fly's real name is also derived from his scientific name (from Todarodes pacificus, the Japanese flying squid).
- Party's family falls into either A Dog Named "Dog" (Mr. Kraken, Grandpa Cthulhu, Uncle Hydra) or A Lizard Named "Liz" (Grandma Levi the Leviathan and Aunt Lia the cecaelia, aka. an octopus mermaid).
- The only exception to this rule is Party himself and his real name. Then again, "Party Octopus" is a common octopus, so it still counts.
Party Octopus
A happy-go-lucky octopus who loves to PARTY!!!
- Adorkable: Beneath his "hype-man" persona, he's actually a pretty dorky guy.
- Bi The Way: He's been hitting on sea creatures of both genders.
- Black Sheep: He is a happy fun ordinary octopus in a family of terrifying sea monsters. The family visits can get awkward sometimes.
- Combat Tentacles: He can stretch his tentacles to catapult himself.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Everyone in the sea calls him Party Octopus or Party.
- Funny Octopus: Yep.
- His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Subverted, since "Party Octopus" might not be his real name.
- Life of the Party: Of course! Besides attending parties a lot (and often shining at them), he also holds parties at his home (and at Humboldt's home, much to his chagrin). He's not called "Party Octopus" for nothing, after all.
- Nice Hat: He wears a small party hat.
- Odd Friendship: He's best friends with Humboldt, despite the two having contrasting personalities.
- Pungeon Master: Downplayed; he sometimes drop a pun or two for kicks, but he sure loves a good pun.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Humboldt's Blue; he's loud, extraverted, and likes to go out to hang with people.
Humboldt Squid
A humboldt squid and Party's best friend (and sometimes rival).
- Affectionate Nickname: Party sometimes call him "Hummer" or "Hummie".
- Friendly Rivalry: Sometimes Humboldt and Party will engage in a contest between the two (like a sunk-item collecting contest).
- Odd Friendship: He's best friends with Party, despite the two having contrasting personalities.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Party's Red; he's calm, introverted, and prefers to stay alone at home.
- The Smart Guy: Between him and Party, Humboldt's the brighter between the two.
- Species Surname: A squid with the last name "Squid".
- The Stoic: He's considerably calmer than Party, though he does have his wild moments.
Topsy
A really loud bottlenose dolphin, possibly even louder than Party.
- The Alcoholic: She gets drunk off her blowhole a lot.
- Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: She's often seen with a glass bottle stuck on her snout, making her a literal bottle-nose dolphin.
- Drunk on Milk: That bottle stuck on her snout is actually a bottle of cream soda.
- Friendly, Playful Dolphin: Despite her drunk tendencies, she's actually a pretty nice guy.
- Friendly Rivalry: Sometimes she and Party would engage in drinking contests. Let's just say it doesn't end well for either of the two.
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: A hard drinking dolphin who often goes to Party's, um... parties.
- Retcon: I changed her gender from male to female. Some Word of God explanation: When I first wrote the character off of a sketch I drew, I make the gender male. I later changed it to female because I just realized that I really lack major female characters here. I'm sorry. I'll probably add more female characters soon.
Thaum and Sepia
A mysterious master of mischief and disguise, and his quiet assistant.- Elective Mute: Sepia can speak, but she doesn't do it often because of her Shrinking Violet tendencies, preferring to use Talking with Signs instead.
- Master of Disguise: True to their species.
- Motif: Thaum's appearance and personality are themed after a dalang (the puppetmaster in a wayang performance).
- Non-Mammalian Hair: Downplayed. Thaum's two "antennae" above his eyes, along with his face coloration, makes him look like he's having a pair of eyebrows and a mustache.
- Talking with Signs: Because Sepia doesn't speak, she converses by changing her skin color to form a response, then showing it.
- What the Hell Is That Accent?: Thaum speaks in a thick Javanese accent (kinda like this).
"Fly"
A bratty and punkish Japanese flying squid.- Do Not Call Me "Paul": He hates his real name because he thinks it's too embarrassing. It's "Todaro"; his family sometimes call him "Todaro-desu".
- I Just Want to Be Badass: He joined a gang so that he can be seen as "tough" by his peers.
- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: He tries to act like a delinquent, but in reality he's mostly just showing off and acting tough.
Ent
A giant Pacific octopus who loves to prank people.- Canon Foreigner: He is originally my character from DrNoPuma's roleplay thread, "We Are Sea Creatures in An Aquarium".
- Recurring Extra: To be honest, I don't plan to do much with him. He'll mostly just appear in a few short scenes or whatnot.
Party's family (the Thalassa family)
The Thalassa family is a multi-generational family of sea monsters residing in the deepest unexplored parts of the ocean. The current generation consists of Grandpa Cthulhu, Grandma Levi, Aunt Lia, Uncle Hydra and Mr. Kraken. Oh, and Party.- Kraken and Leviathan: Mr. Kraken and Levi, whom are Party's dad and grandma, respectively.
- Missing Mom: Party's mom, also Mr. Kraken's wife, is nowhere to be found for unknown reasons.
- Sea Monster: A whole family of 'em!
- Strong Family Resemblance: Everyone has some sort of "long body part" theme going on within them, whether it's tentacles or long necks. Any sort of innuendo arising from the previous sentence is completely accidental.
- Unscaled Merfolk: Aunt Lia is an octopus mermaid.
There are some rules to this playlist, namely:
- The element should be in the song title, not the artist's name. Therefore, songs by Nickelback, for example, don't count unless they have a song with an element title.
- Each element only has one song. This is because some elements, like Gold and Silver, have way too many songs with their names in the title.
- Only one song from each artist (i.e. no two songs by the same artist).
Be warned that some of the songs in here are really obscure, and some might not be your kind of song to listen to. Oh, if you have a song suggestion, please let me know!note
